My mission in life always has been about helping others. In my day-to-day life, I would regularly find small moments in the community or within my workplace to practice random acts of kindness. These moments have always brought meaning to my life and great purpose to my work. However, after my layoff from a biotechnology company following a Phase 2 clinical trial failure, I was left with the looming question “What is next for me?”

I could have easily stayed working in my comfortable profession within Investor Relations and Corporate Communications where I had been working in the financial and healthcare industries for over 15 years. But during this time of personal reflection, I had to determine if staying in corporate was just me “taking the easy way out” or if I was even happy with my current life and living out my true purpose.

I had an exciting career having risen from entry level to manager, to director, to senior director and all the way to Vice President working closely with a CEO and CFO. I spent much of my time working on strategic communications and messaging, company presentations, and speaking with company shareholders and prospects. I also worked regularly with other senior management, cross functional teams, business colleagues, scientists, and a variety of Wall Street professionals. I often engaged in problem solving, raised potential within teams, created more effective organizational communication, and assisted with employee conflict and crisis management.

The experience I gained during my corporate years was immeasurable. However, I had reached a point in my career where I wanted something new and more exciting. I wanted my next career pivot to speak to my purpose.

I always had envisioned myself becoming a professional coach after I retired, but I was nowhere near retirement when I was about to be let go from my job. I took a week off and, after some deep thinking, I made the decision to leave my industry and move ahead with professional coaching.

I immediately enrolled into the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) to start my coaching certification.  While my transition likely appeared risky to those looking on from the outside, I felt confident I was moving in the right direction. However, not even a month into my program, my mother developed pneumonia and passed away unexpectedly.

My world was shattered. I contemplated if I should even continue my new journey. Right before she passed, however, we spoke about the changes I was making in my life. She was elated for me and had always shared with me her belief about the importance of listening to one's inner voice. I have often found opportunity lurking among the darkness so I was confident moving forward that this was the correct decision for me and for this next chapter of my life.

I became a certified executive coach because I derive great joy and personal satisfaction helping others accomplish their goals and watching them become empowered by their successes. Without having a personal vision of where we want to go in life and in our careers, we can often get stuck and continue to get in our own way. This is why I work with leaders to move them to unlock their true potential and realize their vision.

My mission in life always has been about helping others when and where I can—because I can.

So let’s chat and see how we can partner together to keep you moving forward.

I started my career as a professional musician. My first instrument of choice was voice—later studying both the viola and the piano. I graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA in music. I went on to study professional music with an emphasis on jazz vocal performance at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA.  I collaborated on many music projects and traveled within the US as well as performed in other countries. One of the most interesting projects I worked on and participated in was with the country of Cypress performing in the Eurovision Song Contest.

About Nicole

Executive Coaching

I use a customized approach with clients as I believe one program does not fit everyone. When I work with you, we start with a deep-dive conversation. From there, we complete the following steps:

  • We conduct discovery, or figure out “where you are/who you are.”

  • We create a developmental plan around your desired outcomes.

  • We then execute your plan to reach your goals.

Coaching is solely client driven and directed. I’m here for you as an accountability partner, and I will ask you questions you likely are not asking yourself. I will cheer you on but I also will be firm and direct to help you reach your goals.

Group & Team Coaching

Get in touch with me to learn more about how coaching can help you in a group or team setting.

Speaker Coaching

I offer several kinds of speaker coaching, including keynote presentations, TEDx, and the general sharpening of your boardroom and meeting skills. Through a series of analysis and exercises, together we will build your presence and confidence as a speaker.  We will begin with understanding your present voice and space. We next study your body language, eye contact, tempo, and other important delivery aspects. In the end, your inner-voice will become one with your outer-voice, so that your presence is felt by your audience in a natural and effective way.

Interview Prep Coaching

There is so much more involved with prepping for an interview than what most people realize.  I have experience and insight that has led me to put together an effective and comprehensive approach that will prepare for your big interview you are eagerly anticipating. We will take a look at your current resume, job descriptions, qualifications, experience, and abilities. Moving forward, we will examine potential interview questions, conduct mock interviews, and more. Ultimately, you will feel well equipped for your moment to shine.  Contact me to get started today!
